Guitar  Lessons
Head shot of Jeffry

To arrange lessons, call 978-282-3106.

  • Jeffry Steele has been teaching guitar since 1977 (to see where).
  • Currently he sees students at his home in downtown Gloucester as well as at Endicott College, Beverly (North Shore Conservatory of Music).
  • Students at all levels are welcome; the only requirement being that you take yourself seriously.
  • His students have ranged in age from first grade through retirement.
  • Though most of his students are focused on classical guitar style, many of them did not start off that way, and it is certainly not a requirement.
  • He organizes two recitals each year, in May and December. All students are encouraged to participate. He also invites his students to periodic sing-along gatherings.
  • Jeffry Steele expects his students to become as accomplished as they possibly can.
  • Anyone with a penchant for singing is encouraged to make that part of their guitar experience.
  • Having taught K-8 General Music, he can remember a good number of children's songs.
  • He teaches a straight-wrist right-hand technique, such as was taught him by David Starobin (who was taught by Aaron Shearer).
